A SKIPTON man caught up in an altercation in the town centre was in possession of amphetamine, a court heard.
Kieran Thornber, 20, was searched by police who were attending an incident in Newmarket Street on September 9 last year.
He was found to be carrying 4.6 grams of amphetamine, a class B controlled drug, heard Skipton Magistrates Court on Friday.
Thornber, who admitted being in possession of a controlled drug, had not been charged with anything to do with the altercation, the court heard.
In mitigation, Keith Blackwell said the drug was for his client's own use; he apologised and has learnt a severe lesson.
Thornber, of Alders Road, was fined £80 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £32 surcharge.
