Bolton Abbey

Rector’s message: This is the first Sunday of Lent. We marked the beginning of Lent on Ash Wednesday and this Sunday we are reminded of Christ in the wilderness for forty days and forty nights. The story of Christ in the wilderness is incredibly important for Christians as we will all find ourselves in the wilderness at some point in our lives. It is common to us all but we also know that, like Christ, we will be ministered to by the angels and that, ultimately, we will be able to proclaim the Resurrection on Easter Day. Let us particularly remember this Lent the people of Israel, Gaza and the Ukraine who are undergoing a period of great trial and tribulation. May we minister to them and keep the hope of the peace and reconciliation alive in all our hearts. The church office is open on Mondays and Fridays until 3 pm and Wednesdays until noon.
