PINSUTI Chamber Choir will celebrate the music of Vaughan Williams' music at its first performance at Skipton Town Hall on the evening of Saturday, March 16.
The programme will open with the ethereal Miserere by Allegri, followed by Vaughan Williams’ haunting Mass in G Minor for double chorus and soloists, and a work by the mass’s dedicatee - Gustav Holst’s Nunc Dimittis.
The music will continue with Vaughan Williams' Three Shakespeare Songs - his colourful settings of texts from The Tempest and A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and Silence and Music, the composer's evocative setting of the poem written by his second wife, Ursula Wood.
Short, sacred works, Paul Mealor’s motet Locus iste and Þorkell Sigurbjörnsson’s simple Icelandic hymn, Heyr, himna smiður will also feature, before returning to Vaughan Williams with his celebration of English sea-faring and rural life - Five English Folk Songs.
The concert on March 16 is at 7.30pm. Tickets at £15 (free for under-18s) from: https://skiptontownhall.co.uk; by phone 01756 792809; or from the town hall box office.
