A FURTHER 26 untaxed and abandoned vehicles have been removed from the district's roads.

The action was taken by Bradford Council, in an operation with West Yorkshire Police.

Powers granted last December enable the local authority to remove vehicles from roads and open land.

Of the 98 now seized since the powers came into effect, 26 have been collected by their registered keeper, 46 remain impounded and 26 have been crushed.

A Bradford Council spokesperson says: “We’ve got more operations planned in the coming weeks across the district. Abandoned vehicles are a nuisance and a blight on local communities, and we are using all powers available to us to remove them from our streets."
