A CLUB was bowled over with the success of its latest open day.

Sixty people attended the Haworth Central Park Bowling Club event.

A demonstration was given by the club's league and cup-winning Bronte Bowlers.

And people had the chance to try the sport for themselves.

A club spokesperson says: "Recruitment of new members was good – with a number of people new to bowls, and others who are returning to the sport."

The club is once again holding its Bowls4HEALTH sessions.

They will take place every Thursday, between 12.30pm and 1.30pm, through to August.

"These are aimed at adults looking to improve their physical and mental health in our beautiful Green Flag park," says the spokesperson.

"Sessions can be tailored to suit different abilities – from how to hold a bowl, to playing or improving one's game and self- confidence by increasing physical activity, social interaction and community involvement."
