York band Miles and The Chain Gang play their Ilkley debut on Saturday, April 27 when they will be appearing at Ilkley Brewery.

The band have been playing gigs around Yorkshire, with appearances in Doncaster, Helmsley, Otley, York,Harr ogate, Ampleforth and more. Their 2023 single 'Charlie' has been played on indie and internet radio around the world and their recent song 'Raining Cats and Dogs' has been streamed 10,000 times since it was released in January. The band recently got their first mention on BBC Radio 2. They play a mixture of cover songs and their own tunes, influences including soul (Sam Cooke) Americana (Bruce Springsteen), and new wave bands like The Police and The Pretenders. There are various nods to music from the '80s.

Ilkley Brewery manager Richard Thackray was impressed when the band's agent, Jules, approached him about the band playing. "It was a no-brainer," says Richard. "I thought they sounded great."

Miles says the band are happy to be playing Ilkley for the first time. "We've not played in Ilkley before," he says, "and our mission is to play all over Yorkshire. We love it when the audience sings and dances. It will be a good evening."

There will also be a music quiz that punters can enjoy. Joining Miles will be York musicians Steve Purton (drums), Mathew Watt (bass) and Paul Lewis (keyboards).
