AN application to demolish and replace the outrigger at the rear of 43 Rainhall Road in Barnoldswick has been submitted to Pendle Council.

The scheme includes the replacement of the outrigger with a single-storey rear extension.

In October last year, an earlier application to demolish the outrigger and build an extension was refused permission by Pendle Council.

The council refused the scheme at the time on grounds that the proposed extension would occupy the entire rear yard of the property, preventing its use for the storage of bins, seating and for the hanging out of clothes, to the detriment of the residential amenity of occupants. It would also mean bins having to be put on the highway, to the detriment of highway safety and the free flow of traffic and pedestrians.
