STAFF at Steeton’s Acorn Stairlifts have been clearing out their wardrobes and spare rooms to boost a local charity.

The company, which employs around 500 people at its global head offices and factory on Steeton’s Millennium Business Park, organises an annual ‘spring clean’ collection, urging its staff to donate good quality pre-loved items from home.

This year’s beneficiary was the Martin House Children’s Hospice, which provides care and support to families across Yorkshire from its base in Wetherby.

Hundreds of items were donated, everything from clothes to toys, soft furnishings and other household items. After being carefully sorted by Acorn staff, a packed van load of donations was delivered to the Martin House charity shop in Sheep Street, Skipton.

The donated goods will be sold through the charity’s network of 14 shops to raise funds in support of the children’s hospice and its invaluable work.

Emily Shepherd, one of the Spring Clean appeal organisers at Acorn, said: “Martin House is a fantastic charity and we were more than happy to help support their work through our donations. Our Spring Clean collection is always well supported and I’d like to thank staff for their donations.”
