A FORMER Skipton man has been banned from driving for 29 months and ordered to carry out unpaid work after being found guilty of riding an unregistered motorcycle while banned and without due care and attention.

Jamie Carroll, 31, was found guilty after trial by Harrogate magistrates of five road traffic offences which took place in Skipton on July 7 last year. He initially denied all the charges at Skipton Magistrates Court in February.

Carroll, now of Mill Close, Settle, drove an unregistered motorcycle on the junction between North Parade and Cawder Green, Skipton, without due care and attention. He also failed to stop after an accident in which damage was caused to a Mercedes A35.

He rode the vehicle without third party insurance, without wearing a helmet, and whilst being banned from holding or obtaining a driving licence.

At Harrogate Magistrates Court on May 16, he was given a community order requiring him to carry out up to 20 rehabilitation activity requirement days and carry out 60 hours unpaid work. He was also banned from driving for 29 months and ordered to pay costs of £620.
