ELECTED community representatives who do not spend most of their £10,000 allowance to respond to local needs should be named and shamed, a North Yorkshire Council committee has been told.

Happily, all of the nine councillors who represent Craven divisions on North Yorkshire Council gave out all of their allocated £10,00 in 2023/24.

Money went to all sorts of organisations and projects, including improvements to roads and footpaths, the buying of gazebos for events, the buying of defibrillators and anti-speeding equipment. 

Here is how they spent their allowance:

Cllr Philip Barrett (Glusburn, Cross Hills and Sutton-in-Craven, NY Ind).
