CRAVEN Museum sadly missed out last night on being named Museum of the Year -beaten to the title by the Young V&A at London's Victoria and Albert Museum.

Craven Museum, housed in Skipton Town Hall, was one of just five finalists in the running to be named Art Fund Museum of the Year - billed as the 'world's largest museum prize'.

The winner, the Young V&A receives £120,000 while the other finalists each receive £15,000.

The winner was announced yesterday evening at London's National Gallery, just before the start of England's match against Netherlands in the UEFA Euros, which saw England win 2-1, securing a place in Sunday's final.
