A new book by historian David Joy MBE has hit the shelves.
"Digging to Doom - All Hope Lost at Grassington Mines" is now available at the Stripey Badger Bookshop in Grassington.
The official book launch will take place at the bookshop at 2pm on August 28, with Mr Joy joined by his son Richard, the book's designer.
Mr Joy will also give an illustrated talk about the book at The Octagon, Grassington Town Hall, at 7pm on October 25.
The book tells the story of Grassington's mining history, focusing on the 'Duke's Folly.'
The final chapters explore the remaining landmarks from the mining era, complemented by AI-generated images and photographs.
Linda Furniss of the Stripey Badger Bookshop said: "I find this book fascinating, not least because the deeds of famous people...were all involved in the story of lead-mining in Grassington.
"It’s a fascinating reading with great images."
