POLICE are carrying out a "high-visibility operation" in Skipton today.
The Craven Herald was contacted this morning by a resident to say they saw "armed police in the Belmont Bridge area" of the town.
One local resident said "there are a load of police about" and they were "worried".
North Yorkshire Police has said they are carrying out a "planned high-visibility policing operation".
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: "There is a planned high-visibility policing operation in Skipton area today, called Op Tornado.
"It started early this morning and is still going on."
