ALDI has asked North Yorkshire Council for clarification about its plans to fit solar panels to the roof of its foodstore in Skipton.
It wants to know if prior approval is needed before it goes ahead with the installation of panels at its store in Keighley Road.
Aldi wants to fit 168 solar panels onto the roof, which it says will generate capacity of 73.08kw.
The application follows an 'extensive structural survey' of the roof to make sure it is possible and is part of Aldi's plans to fit solar panels across is stores in both the UK and in Ireland.
A planning statement by Aldi with the application states it is part of the company's plan to significantly reduce Aldi’s carbon footprint and contribute towards mitigating climate change."
