ALL Creatures Great and Small is returning to screens this week with a much anticipated seventh series.
The Channel 5 hit drama, much of which is filmed in and around Grassington, will once again bring to life the heart warming stories of vet James Herriot and his colleagues at Skeldale House.
Set in 1946, the new series, which begins tomorrow (Thursday) at 9pm, captures the post-war optimism of rural Yorkshire as familiar faces return and new challenges emerge.
"With the war finally over, Skeldale House is full once again and livelier than ever as our beloved characters reunite under one roof and look ahead to a hopeful new chapter."
James Herriot, played by Nicholas Ralph, finds himself navigating the latest advancements in veterinary medicine while facing competition from a new arrival in the area.
The cast includes Samuel West as Siegfried Farnon, Anna Madeley as Mrs Hall, Rachel Shenton as Helen Herriot, and Callum Woodhouse as Tristan Farnon.

Patricia Hodge returns as the ever-elegant Mrs Pumphrey, alongside her pampered Pekingese Tricki.
Tony Pitts and Imogen Clawson reprise their roles as Helen’s father Richard and sister Jenny, while Maimie McCoy, Gaia Wise, and Mollie Winnard also return to the cast.
New to the series is Caolan McCarthy, who stars as rival vet Granville Bennett.
The show is produced by Playground, the BAFTA and Golden Globe-winning company behind Wolf Hall: The Mirror and the Light and The Hardacres.
The writing team for series seven includes Neil Jones, Debbie O’Malley, Maxine Alderton, and Kellie Smith.
Directors include Brian Percival, Jennie Paddon, and Andy Hay, with Yvonne Francas returning as producer.
The series is a Playground production for Channel 5 and MASTERPIECE, in association with All3Media International.
Series seven was commissioned by Sebastian Cardwell, deputy director of programmes at Channel 5, along with commissioning editors Paul Testar and Greg Barnett.
The drama remains Channel 5’s most successful drama series to date and continues to be one of the channel’s top-performing programmes year after year.
Executive producers for the new series include Colin Callender, Melissa Gallant, Sharon Moran, Brian Percival, Neil Jones, Susanne Simpson, Lauren Jackson, Maartje Horchner, Sebastian Cardwell, Paul Testar, and Greg Barnett.
Series seven was announced as part of a double series commission with series eight in November 2025. A Christmas special will also air later this year.
All Creatures Great and Small airs weekly on Thursdays at 9pm and are also available to stream, along with prevoous series.
