A DETACHED, three-bedroom house can be built in Low Bradley after planning was given the go-ahead by North Yorkshire Council.

Bradleys Both Parish Council objected to the scheme and there were 13 representations against the proposed development, behind Prospect House in Crag Lane.

Objections included development into the open countryside, impact on the conservation area and highway safety.

There were also concerns over harm to wildlife, including badgers and a negative impact on views from the Leeds and Liverpool Canal.

But, the council delegated planning report pointed to the authority's 'significant' shortfall in its five year housing land supply - currently 2.27 years - and recommended approval.

The new home will include parking and amenity space.

North Yorkshire Highways raised no objection to the scheme, subject to conditions.

Supporting documents with the planning application state that a previously approved barn conversion at the site will now not go ahead, because it was too expensive, but that a section of the barn will be used for storage for the new build house.

It has been designed to fit in with the 'existing topography' and will be single storey on one side, and two storeys at the rear.
