N Ribblesdale U-15s 68 Skipton U-15s 22

With the sun beating down on the backs of spectators and players alike North Ribblesdale U-15s put on an impressive attacking display of running rugby that saw them put 12 tries past a spirited Skipton side.

Skipton started the brighter with plenty of commitment from a powerful forward pack. Quick ball from the Skipton scrum-half created the first try for their commanding No 8.

Skipton continued to play well throughout the first quarter only to be thwarted time and time again by a determined Ribb defence.

Ribb eventually got into the game when the forwards began to control the breakdown creating openings for their fast back line.

A powerful break by centre George Mackay was followed by quick ball from Robbie Davidson to winger Tom Frik, who tore through the defence with a blistering run to the line.

Winning the ball in midfield was key and Skipton battled well against the hard- working Rory Bellis, Calum Harris and Connor Hall.

Parity was broken when a threatening Skipton move on the half-way line saw Mark Bargh make a stunning interception and race unchallenged to the line. Davidson converted.

Bargh followed his try up with another impressive scoring break down the wing. Frik then added his second try following good inter-play between Davidson and Mackay.

Ribb were now in full flow and good breaks from Tom Connell, Bellis and newcomer Adam Batty were halted by the committed Skipton defence.

The lead was then extended when a fine pass by scrum- half Peter Cook to Mackay led to the fourth Ribb try.

Two more tries by the influential Mackay just before half-time stretched the lead further.

Early in the second-half Skipton regained their composure and challenged for the Ribb line. Once again Robinson, McMannus and Harris were prominent in the Ribb defence. The Ribb back row then pounced on a Skipton mistake and running the ball from inside their own 22 the Ribb endeavour was rewarded when Jack Cokell delivered a precision pass to the onrushing Frik, who stormed down the wing to touchdown in the corner.

Skipton redoubled their efforts and the No 8 powered over for his second try. Not to be outdone, the Ribb centre Mackay charged his way through the opposition, skilfully chipped the ful-lback, collected and offloaded to the supporting Andy Thwaite for a much-deserved try. Skipton, still motivated, responded yet again, with their impressive No8 touching down for his third try.

Cook, now playing stand-off for Ribb, timed his pass well to put Frik over in the corner. Frik's fifth try was made by the fleet-footed Tom Harris.

The powerful Skipton forwards combined impressively to drive over for their fourth try before Mackay got the final try of the game by storming through the centre to touch down between the posts.
