Cowling Harlequins 10 Woodhouse Warriors 30
This game was a great confidence booster for the young Quins who knew they had a mighty task taking on the Division Five leaders.
Quins did not start too well, letting in a soft length-of-field try but they tightened their defence until the half hour when Warriors scored again.
Then a well-worked move by Cowling put Danny Brophy in for a great try. Dave Needham missed the conversion but Cowling continued to complete sets and put great pressure on.
Trailing 18-6 at the break the Quins came out in the second-half and hit Warriors with everything and it was silly penalties and lost balls which put Woodhouse in a good position to score again.
When Cowling got the chance to score they did through captain Darren Greenwood. He got a great offload from Karl Hancock to put him in, goaled by Needham. If it were not for another soft try the game would have been closer.
Greenwood was voted man-of-the-match but he donated it to the team for a great display.
p The Quins play Wyke on Saturday at South Craven bidding to gain much needed league points.
