Airedale NHS Foundation Trust has been named Small Trust of the Year in the 2010 Dr Foster Hospital Guide, in recognition of its excellent delivery of high-quality patient care.
The accolade, awarded to the Trust for the fourth time in five years, also names Airedale Hospital as one of the best performers across the country for the provision of orthopaedic care. The hospital has also been recognised by the Stroke Association as among the top 25 per cent of hospitals for its stroke service.
The Hospital Guide analyses a number of different criteria to assess hospital standards of patient care. This year, the report looked at particular areas as key indicators of the quality of care, including orthopaedic care and the care delivered to stroke patients. It also looked, for the first time, at mortality rates for deaths after surgery.
Trust chief executive Bridget Fletcher said: “We are extremely pleased to win the award again, especially as it is in the same year that we also achieved Foundation Trust status.”
