Marie Curie Cancer is calling on the support of the people of Skipton.

The charity is hoping to set up a fundraising group to support its nursing service across Craven.

Community fundraiser Brenda Doyle said support groups played a vital role in the charity.

“They bring together like-minded people who want to raise funds and to raise the profile of the charity in their community,” she said. The group would help with the charity’s local collections and place and collect collecting tins.

It could also organise events and spread the word about the Marie Curie nurses.

“People get a great deal of satisfaction in being part of a group and have a great deal of fun working together,” said Mrs Doyle.

“They also have the satisfaction of knowing they are making a real difference in raising funds for the Marie Curie nurses.”

The group would also have the support of the local Marie Curie fundraising team who would provide help and encouragement.

An informal meeting is being planned for anyone interested. To find out more, contact Brenda Doyle on 01274 337034 or email brenda.doyle@mariecurie.org.uk
