Chic, arguably disco’s greatest band, will be one of the headline acts at this year’s Magic Loungeabout festival.

The event, which has the tag line “a refined unwind”, will be staged in the grounds of Broughton Hall from Friday, July 27, to Sunday, July 29.

Chic will perform on the Friday night.

Formed in 1977, the group shot to the top of the charts with hits such as Le Freak, Good Times and Everybody, and band member Nile Rodgers went on to become one of the world’s most successful music producers, working with the likes of Madonna, David Bowie and Duran Duran.

“We’re incredibly proud that they will be headlining Friday for what promises to be the best start to our biggest party yet,” said festival founder Simon Adamson.

“We brought some of the UK’s best new talent to Yorkshire in 2011, including the Brits award star Ed Sheeran. This summer we are introducing more future stars.”

These include Benjamin Francis Leftwich, whose debut Top 40 album, Last Smoke Before The Snowstorm, was cited as Album of the Week on Radio 1, Lucy Rose, Cashier No 9, Juan Zelada and Jenny O.

“There is still lots more to come from us,” said Simon. “The Magic Loungeabout is one of the most imaginative festivals in the North and offers everyone the chance to see arena-filling acts in an intimate setting.”
