Two of West Craven’s current representatives on Pendle Borough Council are standing down at next Thursday’s election.

Independent Glenn Whitaker is not seeking re-election in Barnoldswick’s Craven ward and Conservative Valerie Langtree is retiring in Earby. However, Liberal Democrat Marjorie Adams will be defending her Coates ward seat.

There are elections in all three wards, with a total of 11 candidates standing. The council is currently hung, with no party in overall control. The Conservatives have 18 seats, Labour 16, Liberal Democrats 12, British National Party two and there is one Independent.
