Land Rover thieves have thrown filming continuity into chaos because the vehicle contained a jacket being used in a TV documentary.

The Land Rover and jacket belonged to Robert Aynesworth, of Appletreewick, who is transporting his father, David, around the county in search of Yorkshire’s perfect pint of beer.

The four-part documentary series is being filmed by Grassington-based Cheeky Monkey Films and, in the first three episodes, Robert is seen wearing the deep chestnut-coloured sheepskin flying jacket with a dark brown collar.

Both David and Robert wore the same type of jackets to keep the cold away while driving from venue to venue in David’s classic 1933 Bentley sports car, nicknamed The Brigadier.

But the final episode will have to be shown with Richard minus his beloved coat.

Katy Metcalfe, series producer, said the car was a beautiful machine, but could be a bit chilly.

“Both David and Robert wear thick sheepskin flying jackets to combat the Yorkshire weather. Sadly, because of the theft, not only has continuity been completely ruined for the remaining filming, but Robert has had the coat for some years and is desperate to get it back,” she said.

The idea behind the filming of Yorkshire’s Perfect Pint was to seek out the best 20 pints in the county and present them at the Great Craven Beer Festival held at David’s pub, The Craven Arms, in Appletreewick, last weekend.

From these 20, one beer has been named the best pint in Yorkshire and this will be revealed in the final episode of the documentary.

The series was originally scheduled to be screened weekly from October 9. However, due to unexpected changes in ITV’s programming, there was a gap following the initial episode.

The second part went out last Monday and the third will be shown tomorrow when Skipton-based Copper Dragon Breweries is featured. The last episode is to be screened on Monday November 3.

Each programme is aired at 10.40pm on ITV Yorkshire.

The green Land Rover Defender was taken from outside The Craven Arms on October 1.
