SKIPTON Food Bank has been handed a cheque for £210 from Skipton Soroptimists.
The Soroptimists have been regular donors to the food bank and have recently raised funds to coincide with the start of the school summer holidays when children will miss out on their free school meals.
Volunteer Helen Parsons said there had already been an increase in requests from families in the last week or two.
She said latest government figures for July 2019 show that nearly a fifth of children in Skipton and Ripon constituency are living in poverty which can damage their well-being and future life chances.
There are estimated to be four million children living in poverty in the UK today, with numbers rising.
The presentation was made to Reverend Lisa Holmes.
