SKIPTON couple Gordon and Sheila Daggett celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary today, thanks to Gordon’s twin brother, Brian, who set the pair up on a blind date.
The pair became inseparable and married the following year, in 1960, at Mount Zion Baptist Church, in Earby.
Gordon worked for the Yorkshire Electricity Board while Sheila worked for a number of firms in the town, lastly as a home carer for North Yorkshire County Council.
Both enjoy reading and spending time in the garden and look forward to celebrating their anniversary fully when lockdown is over and they can meet with family and friends again.
The couple have two children, Susan and Graham, who, together, with Susan’s partner, David, will organise the party.
