LIZZIE Armitstead wowed a 20,000-plus record crowd after winning the Women’s Grand Prix at the 29th annual Otley Cycle Races.

The Olympic silver medallist also competed in the Classic race, which was won by Nathan Draper.

Tour de France fever gripped the streets of Otley as MP Greg Mulholland and Welcome to Yorkshire chief executive Gary Verity joined French dignitaries ahead of Saturday’s Grand Depart.

The concluding headline race, the Men’s Grand Prix, was won by Adam Blythe, with Ed Clancy of Huddersfield second.
