A team of workers at Airedale Hospital got into the Tour de France spirit by dressing up in different coloured jerseys.

About 20 staff from the human resources department paid to wear one of the race's famous colours - raising money for the hospital Trust's Emergency Department Appeal.

The colours worn included the race leader's yellow, King of the Mountains' polka dot, highest points' green and fastest young rider's white.

HR advisor Jodie Hearnshaw, an avid Tour de France viewer since she was a child, came up with the fundraising idea.

She said: "I thought it would be a great chance to raise some extra money for our appeal but also a bit of a celebration for our team to mark this prestigious event coming so close to the hospital."

General manager Shaun Milburn and systems administrator Matt Dickinson - both keen cyclists - will ride from Morecambe to Airedale Hospital in September in aid of the appeal.
