CRAVEN has a proud history of independent businesses.
And this week’s nostalgia picture shows the centenary celebrations of Skipton-based GH Mason and Sons in 1970.
The family firm was based at 54 High Street (now occupied by Boots) and had a front shop, stores and workshops “down the yard”.
As well as doing plumbing and electrical work, the firm also offered a painting and decorating service.
The picture – taken at the Black Horse Hotel – has been loaned by Noel Stuttard and David Stodart.
The line-up is, from the left, back row – Donald Whittaker, Noel Stuttard, ?, Chris Barrett, Martin Davidson, Michael Pearson, Harold Barrett, John Parkinson, ?, ?, Thomas Edmondson.
Second row: Bill Lightle, ?, Michael Baxter, Bill Lawson, ?, Leonard Honeyman, Eric Lancaster, Frank Harrop, Muriel Fenn, ?, ?, Susan Raw, ?, Fred Whitehead. ?.
Front row: Fred Harker, Bill Hawkins, Keith Watkinson, Clarence Deakin, Norman Cook, William Mason, George Mason, Fred Mellor, ?, Teddy Sharples and Arthur Edmondson.
