THIS week's nostalgia picture shows members of the Land Army based at Settle.

The photograph is loaned by Chris Moorby, whose mother, Dorothy Moorby, (formerly Bradley) is pictured at the front with her arms folded.

She came from Holbeck, Leeds, joined the Land Army and met Robert Moorby. They got married and settled at The Almshouses and then The Green, Long Preston, where Chris and his wife now live. She died in 1962, aged just 44.

Chris thinks the seventh person from the left is Donald Campbell and the one to the extreme right is the late George Sanderson, whose family used to have the greengrocers between Dawsons (now a charity shop) and the Naked Man Cafe in Settle.
