ONE of the country's greatest-ever equestrian stars is in the centre of this picture, which was rescued from a skip by Skipton's 'Mr Sport' Roger Ingham!

Roger says it was taken in 1952 at Malham Show, then staged at Airton, and the young lad not wearing a helmet is Harvey Smith, later to become a household name thanks to 1970s showjumping coverage on TV.

Another successful showjumping star, Bruce Aspinall, is to Harvey's left. Does anyone recognise any of the remaining riders? Roger says the picture brought a broad smile to Harvey Smith's face when he showed it to him at Carlisle races a while back.
