IT’S wonderful to read about the details of the exciting vision for Skipton Town Hall.

As we report today, the plans to improve the building are about to enter a major new phase, following the welcome boost of a £1.5million Heritage Lottery Fund grant.

The Town Hall - simply by being the Town Hall - is already a significant hub for the region. But the plans in place will make it even more important, providing better services, an improved visitor experience and simply more value to those who live in the region.

The vision for a hugely upgraded Craven Museum is particularly exciting. By being better able to exhibit its vast range of items, staff will be better able to give visitors young and old a strong grasp of the area’s past, present and future - and make the most of the museum’s holdings.

The Concert Hall is also to receive a big upgrade, providing more scope for performances to entertain audiences at an even higher quality than is already being achieved.

As Danielle Daglan, the council’s programming and venue development manager, says: “I’m very excited about what the town hall will represent at the end of this process. It’s going to be a fantastic venue not just for Skipton but for the whole of Craven.”

Indeed it is.
