Sir – Regarding my acknowledgement (Letters, January 9) of another wonderful display of people's generosity concerning my latest festive season charity “banter bucket” blitz around local pubs and hostelries, I feel obliged to point out that I was only responsible for the actual letter, and not it's accompanying headline.
The headline suggested that the effort was confined to Skipton “town” only, but my interpretation of “local” in this context included hostelries in some of the neighbouring rural communities besides.
A point substantiated by me knowing people in every place which I visited, indeed – at some locations – just about everyone in the entire building.
Hence I considered it only courteous to ensure that these similarly kindly folk concerned in those corresponding rural areas were themselves, likewise, recognised for their worthy parts towards another truly fantastic yield for Candlelighters.
Roger Ingham, Skipton
