Sir, May I, through the medium of the pages of your newspaper express my opposition, in the strongest terms possible, to the application for planning consent to build houses on a green field site to the north east of the Gyhll meadows estate in the Coates area of Barnoldswick .
This development would have a disastrous effect on the recreational amenities provided by the area around the Greenberfield locks. Another concern must be whether the sewerage and drainage infrastructure could cope with the extra load imposed on it by a further one hundred plus houses, especially taking into consideration other developments elsewhere in the town.
It would be an act of utter madness to even consider putting houses on this piece of prime farm land, green fields should be the sole preserve of cows and sheep, not houses!
