SEEING the photos of the trig pillar in the January 14 edition of the Craven Herald so reminds me of a really hot day in 1971.
When walking the Pennine Way, a friend snapped me sitting right beside the column as we were having a breather after the climb from Cowling .
Modesty prevents me from attaching a copy but suffice it to say that I was a lot younger and fitter in those far off days almost 50 years ago.
Two of us completed the Pennine Way the next year after our great adventure.
I am a life member of Friends of the Dales and revisit regularly (until the pandemic arrived).
