I HAVE been overwhelmed by the kindness shown to me over this last year, from the likes of Stanforth's Butchers, No4 and More (Luke's Paper Shop) Carleton Pharmacy, postmen and many, many others including neighbours, so I would like to say a public 'thank you' to everyone. Stanforth's, especially, have a wonderful sense of humour.

Now, bear with me, whilst I am writing to you. I'd like to mention my other thoughts. Of course I know nothing about land, titles, businesses, rents, rates, but I'd like to suggest Rackhams be turned into an indoor market with a lovely cafe upstairs.

I can hear the moans now! The frontages (market traders) may suffer but the council may be able to come up with other ideas for them to benefit.

The High Street could be turned into the most beautiful areas of seating, tubs of flowers etc, etc. You could ask the public if they would like to donate plants; perhaps in memory of someone dear.

You could possibly have a High Street market once a month on the setts with special activities going on to attract visitors who may spend money on various items - including pork pies.

Skipton Brass Band could perhaps perform once a month with music to cheer us up.
