THE proposal for changes to Skipton Railway Station is supposed to improve public transport and particularly buses. In fact they make it worse.

At present there is a bus stop right outside the station entrance but this appears to have disappeared. Access to it for buses is direct from and back to Broughton Road without the need to drive through the car park but this also appears to have disappeared.

There are currently bus stops on each side of the road on Broughton Road but these are not shown on the plans.

It was indicated that the changes would include improvements to the walking route from the rail station to the bus station but there is no indication of how this can be achieved.

Unless changes can be made to overcome these deficiencies, these plans should not be approved.
