WITH the head of Skipton Girls High School saying the admittance of girls to Ermysted's School sixth form “makes little sense” (Ermysted's set to admit girls for first time in its 530-year history – Craven Herald December 14); it seems the two schools are about to enter a zero sum game in pursuit of the a dwindling number of post 16 students in Skipton.
It may be much better to consider merging the two sixth forms to create a sixth form college for the all the students of Skipton and Craven and similar to those long established and successful across North Yorkshire (Thirsk, Richmond, Northallerton and others).
