WHILST the funding for upgrading the Silsden to Kildwick section of the canal towpath is great news (funding for towpath is welcome, Craven Herald, April 4 and online), it's somewhat disingenuous to award the credit to the Conservative MP for Keighley, given his party have cut active travel funding by two thirds in the last two years, according to Sustrans.
Robbie Moore doubtless makes the right noises to his constituents, but he voted for these cuts along with his party. It's also worth noting that many individuals and organisations have been campaigning for this upgrade for several years.
