The Morrison Cup got under way on Saturday four months behind schedule which will lead to a hectic run in to the final for the successful clubs.

Cononley Sports switched their tie to Horton and recorded a resounding 8-0 victory.

Cononley were in front after four minutes and scored a further three before half-time, adding four in the second half.

The gap in their respective divisions showed however credit to Horton for sticking to the task and introducing two 16-year-olds John Sutcliffe and Andrew Jackson who were not overawed by their bigger and stronger opponents.

Alan Brewer (2) Chris Lumsden (2) Mark Bradley, Shaun Greene, Liam Mulloy and Andrew Hudson were the Cononley scorers.

Hellifield Sports had a 5-2 win at Skipton Town.

The visitors scored first but Town hit back with two goals. This seemed to fire up Hellifeld who won with goals by Denham (2), Proctor, Dawson and Bland.

Bradley went down 2-1 at home to Earby Town.

Ross Greenwood gave Bradley the lead before two goals by Matt Nutter earned Earby their win.

Both keepers James Monkhouse and Jonathan Pollard made a number of outstanding saves.

Carleton gained a 4-3 extra-time win against Settle United on a gluepot pitch.

The home side scored first before Settle, playing up the slope, hit back with goals by Danny Bathers and Liam Swainson. Carleton equalised through a disputed penalty and scored the winning goals in extra time. Matthew Cardus was also on the scoresheet for the visitors.

Barnoldswick Town United had a narrow 1-0 win over Barnoldswick Barons.

In the Blue Fin Craven Challenge Cup Grindleton defeated Gargrave 3-0 after extra time.

The heavy pitch at Grindleton made flowing football virtually impossible however the home side now join Sedbergh Wanderers in the semi-final draw.

Gargrave Reserves 3-0 home defeat to Earby Town Reserves in the Norman Pratt Trophy made for an unhappy day for the club.

They missed two chances before Earby took control in the second half when Farrell opened the scoring which seemed to deflate Gargrave. Further goals from Howarth and Bowker sealed the win.

Just five games beat the weather in the Mastab’s Craven League and they produced a stunning 44 goals.

Division Four leaders FC Sporting Keighley led the way with a 10-0 win over Barnoldswick Barons Reserves which extended their 100 per cent record to 15 games. Top scorer Aaran Abbas netted five times.

There was also ten goals as third-placed Manningham All Stars beat second-placed Padiham 6-4 to draw level on points. Trinity Brown and Shehzad Khan each scored twice.

Another ten-goal encounter saw Cross Hill Reserves beat Sutton 7-3 in Division Three. Ingrow & Worth Valley Reserves defeated Settle Res- erves 4-2.

Tom Dibb and Jack Lancaster both scored twice as Division One leaders Wilsden Athletic beat Pendle 6-2.
