Bentham progressed to the final of the Blue Fin Insurance Craven Challenge Cup with a 3-0 win over Sedbergh Wanderers at Ingleton FC last Wednesday night.

A good-sized crowd saw Bentham deservedly establish a two goal lead with excellent strikes from Thomas Burns and Teddy Harrison.

Sedbergh, from the Westmore- land League, improved after the break but a couple of half chances were missed and Bentham sealed their win when Burns scored with a header.

They will face the winners of tonight’s semi-final clash between Ribble Valley sides Grindleton and Rimington who meet at Rolls FC kick off 6-30.

The venue of the final will be decided following this game.

Another team progessing to a final are Barnoldswick Town Uni- ted.

The newly formed club, members of the East Lancs League, defeated Hellifield Sports 5-1.

It was the visitors who took the lead with a penalty however Hellifield levelled through Kris Attewell only for Barnoldswick to go ahead before half-time.

The visitors dominated much of the second half scoring three further goals and now meet Earby Town in the Morrison Cup final at Rolls FC tomorrow night kick off 6-30pm in what should be an entertaining West Craven derby.

The heavy rain which fell before the kick off at the Norman Pratt Trophy final at Settle on Friday evening eased off and spectators witnessed an entertaining and competitive match on a very good playing surface.

Rimington Reserves ran out 4-2 winners against a very gallant Earby Town Reserves team to register their third-successive final win.

They raced into a two-goal lead and were looking very much in control, however Earby fought back and drew level when Matt Bowker scored following neat approach work and a Rimington defender diverted a cross into his own goal.

The second half was end to end, with the game in the balance.

With ten minutes left Rimington regained the lead when they took advantage of Earby defenders waiting for a decision in their favour which did not come.

Although they were denied when the Rimington keeper made a excellent save, it was Rimington who made the game safe with a late penalty from man of the match Luke Conti who netted a hat-trick.

James Tootle was also on target for Rimington.
