Settle United 4 Morley Town 1

A John Beckwith hat trick and a goal from Danny Bathers ensured Settle progressed to the final of the West Riding County Trophy final.

Settle took the lead when a left wing corner was met by the head of player manager Shaun Airey, his goal-bound effort was turned in from a couple of yards out by Danny Bathers.

Morley had a goal ruled out for offside and a brave save from the Settle keeper Sam Arrowsmith at the feet of the Morley attacker kept the score line at 1-0 at the break.

Settle dominated the second half and soon increased their lead, a good move ended with Beckwith making space in the box and curling a left footed shot into the far corner.

Morley's only threat appeared to be from set pieces, another good Arrowsmith save from a thunderbolt of a free kick kept the two-goal advantage intact. Morley did pull a goal back from a corner which was met by an unstoppable back post header.

This goal could have led to a tense finish to the game but Settle scored straight from the kick off without the opposition touching the ball. The move of the game saw a pass from Bathers to Marshall open up the Morley defence and his square ball fed Beckwith to score his second and Settle's third of the game.

Beckwith completed the scoring in the last few minutes when his shot from wide on the left wing was pushed onto the bar by the Morley keeper before bouncing down and over the line.

Settle will take on Honley in the final on Wednesday, April 23, 7.30pm kick off, at the West Riding County FA ground at Woodlesford.
