MASTAB’S Craven League president Matt Lord has received further acclaim for his outstanding contribution to local football when he was appointed a life vice president of the West Riding County FA at a recent council meeting.
Matt, who lives in Crosshills and also holds the prestigious Football Association Long Service Award, began his involvement in football playing for Cowling and during his National Service he was involved in football where ever he was based.
Matt began refereeing in 1971, refereeing in the Newark League and on completion of his RAF service he came to live in Crosshills and was invited to serve on the Craven League management committee and held the position of registration secretary for 30 years.
He joined the Craven FA committee in 1981 and in December 1993 was appointed as their representative on the WRCFA. Matt is the current president of the Mastab’s Craven League and is a life member of the Craven District FA, Craven League and Craven, Aire & Wharfe Junior League.
