THE Mewies Solicitors Craven League are due to hold an executive meeting tonight at Glusburn Cricket Club to decide who will run the league.

It was arranged at short notice as the Craven Herald believes that husband and wife team Trevor and Ann Coe resigned as secretary and fixture secretary respectively over the weekend.

It is also expected that the next league executive committee meeting on Monday, June 8 could well be expanded to a full league meeting so that club delegates can attend.

In league action, Embsay were involved in one of the day’s closest matches in Division One.

Haroon Ali (4-43) and Duncan Ward (3-36) helped to restrict hosts Riddlesden to 203 before Ward’s 77 was the cornerstone of Embsay’s reply.

Only Phil Binner (29), Elliott Stockton (27) and David Wellock (21) also made double figures as they fell ten runs short.

Rob Wilkinson (53) and David Snowden (34) were the main contributors to lowly Sutton’s 177-8 but though Richard Walker then took three early wickets, Barrowford then breezed to a five-wicket victory in just 28.2 overs.

Runs were at a premium when Thornton visited Denholme in Division Two, Chris Bowler (3-17), Jack Laycock (3-28), Jonny Martin (2-8) and Mark Paxton (2-27) dismissing the hosts for 80 before James Greenwood (24no) saw the leaders home by three wickets.

Cowling kept pace at the top, thanks to Martyn Dalby (5-29 and 32no), Banaras Hussain (3-24) and Wasim Hussain (30) as Hepworth & Idle fell by eight wickets.

In Division Three, Cononley breezed home against visitors Skipton CI, Herbie Starkey giving a man-of-the-match display with 5-36 and 87no, supported by his brother and skipper Andrew, who made an unbeaten 80.

Cononley are now top as Embsay Seconds lost by 28 runs to Riddlesden Seconds, despite 64 by opener Gareth Woolley.
