GARGRAVE'S Robert Harker is poised to become the youngest player ever to appear for Bury in the Football League.
The 6ft 2ins striker was named among the substitutes for the first time for last Saturday's 0-0 League One draw with Bradford City - just one day before his 16th birthday.
And he has two more chances to beat the current record set by Jimmy Kerr in 1965 when he made his debut aged 16 years and 15 days.
If the former Grassington United player appears in either of Bury's next two matches at Rochdale on Saturday or home to Shrewsbury on March 19 he will take the record.
Harker has been a regular goalscorer for the Gigg Lane club's under-16 and under-18 teams.
