The weather still had a big influence on the games last Saturday, producing some relatively low scores and tight finishes.

The leaders of Division One, Thornton, stayed on top after beating Embsay at home.

They won the toss asked the visitors to go first. They had a steady opening partnership of 56 which then struggled to 72-6.

John Metcalfe 41no and Stephen Speak 18 got the score to 100 then Scott Robinson 15no joined Metcalfe and the pair put on an undefeated 42 for the ninth wicket as the innings closed on 150-8. Skipper Simon Bailey made 37 as Mark Paxton finished with 4-44.

Thornton's innings started off in similar fashion and the first wicket fell at 51, which soon became 80-4. Then Richard Craddock with 59 proved to be the stumbling block as the Booth Bridge Lane got home by three wickets with just seven balls to go.

Second placed Crossflatts made 171-7 in their innings at home to Sutton, with Nigel Brett top scoring with 29 as Simon Doane took 5-53 and Justin Holdsworth 3-51. The South Craveners were dismissed for 101 in reply with Chris Capstick making 40 as Mick Addy spun his way to 7-26.

Cullingworth, in third place, had a field day at Bingley Congs. In 36.2 overs they plundered a mammoth 286-4 before declaring. Gareth Marshall led the way with a superb 113no in 78 balls which included seven sixes and 10 fours.

The Congs then crashed to 40 all out in just 15 overs to be defeated by 246 runs. Chris Welch took 5-19 and Dave Hall 2-6.

Oakworth moved into fourth spot after a narrow two wicket victory at Sandy Lane.

Paul Thomas scored 61no as the homeside struggled to 109 with Graham Rankin taking 4-42. Paul Noble took 4-26 as the Cure Hill side collected the points.

Glusburn got back to winning ways, seeing off Bradley by just 10 runs. Nick Williamson 59 and Mark Price 37 helped the Park Field side to 175-9 in their innings with John Duffy taking 4-37 and Matty Simpson 4-59. The visitors replied with 165 with Alastair Harrison top scoring with 40 as Kev Hird claimed 4-59 In a basement battle, Haworth saw off Cowling by 101 runs. They reached 213-4 with Cowling dismissed for 112 with Steve Richardson making 27.

The bowling feat of the day came at Cononley where the home side's Matt Town took 9-36 to set up a thrilling 10 run victory over Ingrow, in a low scoring game.

Division Two leaders Barrowford made the short journey to Foulridge and restricted them to 117-8. John Lickess batting 44.5 overs for 58 as Peter Hakin took 3-39.

Liam Roberts 52 was the mainstay of the successful reply which got home by six wickets.

Airedale's skipper Matt Cox 45 and 5-24, led by example as his side sauntered home by eight wickets at home to Haworth Road, to keep them in second spot.

Chatburn were too strong for Ingrow St John's as they reached 168-7. Only Wasim Hussain with 42 offered much resistance for the Saints as Rod and Anthony Booth both claimed 3-28.

Denholme's slide down the table continues after they went down by 42 runs to bottom side Glusburn II. Alan Coney, 78, and Graham Harrison 31 helped the Park Field side to 192 with David Wear taking 4-44. The latter then made 34 to go with Rob Taylor's 36 as the homesters closed on 150, with evergreen Rummy Smith taking 5-37 and Simon Hagerty 3-55.

Long Lee travelled to Embsay II and knocked them over for 91, with Paul Swindlehurst having the excellent figures of 7-49 off 20.4 overs.

However the Keighley side were shot out for just 41 in reply. Skipper Matt Taylor's 23 was the only player in double figures as seven of his team mates failed to trouble the scorers. Zaf Iqbal with 5-15 and Simon Holt 5-16 did all the damage.

Division Three leaders, Pendle Forest rattled up 249-8 at Haworth West End, who were skittled out for just 54.

Skipton CI drop from second to third after they were beaten by 54 runs by local rivals Carleton at Ramper Park. Iain Bell made 77 and Phil Binner 53no as the home side plundered 209-6.

Then Neville Allen took 5-12 off 10 overs to restrict the visitors to 154-8.

Wilsden move into second spot after beating Ingrow St John's II.

Oakworth II remain in fourth despite losing at home to Barrowford II, with two of their juniors making useful contributions. 15-year-old Jack Hainsworth made 42 of their 106, then 15-year-old Luke Taylor took 2-21 off 10 overs as the Cure Hill side lost by five wickets.

Another junior, Cowling's Matthew Wiggan took 5-17 as visitors Eldwick & Gilstead were knocked over for 89. Mark Batty then blasted a quick fire 49 to set up an easy eight wicket victory.

Gargrave sent Airedale II packing beating them by 38 runs. Taz Malik made 65 of the homesters 112 with J Ahad taking 4-12 and Giles Wilmore 4-48. Then D Greenwood 5-26 and T Cowburn 5-43 had the visitors back in the hut for 74.

Haworth Road II remain joint top of Division Four after beating Bingley Congs by six wickets at Baildon Bottom. Richard Gill performed the hat trick as he took 3-24 for the winners.

Level on points are Long Lee II who beat Sandy Lane II by 40 runs.

Third placed Crossflatts II went down by 105 runs at Bradley II, whilst Riddlesden went down by 19 runs at home to Thornton II.

In Division Five Charles Calvert, 66, and K Gott, 42, set up Cononley II's 208-5 at Sutton II. The homesters replied with 133 with Paul Williams making 28 as P Nelson took 4-23.

Foulridge II went down by 30 runs at home to Gargrave II and there was no play between Skipton CI II and Pendle Forest III.

Finally there was a remarkable finish between Oakworth III and Denholme II. Skipper Jon Hollingsworth made 30 as the Cure Hill side struggled to 80. The visitors were cruising home at 72-3 when mayhem struck as they lost their last seven wickets for just six runs to go down by one run.

Destroyer in chief was yet another junior from the Oakworth conveyor belt. 14-year-old Greig Hudson took 8-15 in just 31 balls.
