Blaydon 2nds 14 Wharfedale Foresters 27

THE Foresters came away with a five-point haul but were made to work hard for the Northern Pilot League victory by the Blaydon second string.

Playing down the slope in the first half the Foresters were soon behind to a converted try by the home side, this seemed to kickstart the Foresters into action and after patient phases of play Ben Parkinson crossed the whitewash and Jack Johnson converted.

After a period of stalemate the Foresters capitalised on some cheap penalties given away by Blaydon.

They pinned the hosts to their 22 and this paid off when Ben Parkinson crossed for his second try again converted by Jack Johnson to make it 14-7 at half-time.

Blaydon profited from some poor kicking with a converted try to bring them level.

Wharfedale then made their way up to the Blaydon 22 and were awarded a penalty themselves which was converted by Johnson.

More patient rugby was played with the whole squad contributing and Charles Glover crossed wide out after a flowing move.

The final score was similar to the first team game and captain Ben Parkinson completed his hat-trick with the final whistle about to blow.
