Hallmark Security League Division One: Alsager Town 0 Silsden 2
THE Cobbydalers have increased their lead in Division One of the Hallmark Security League after a straightforward win at seventh-placed Alsager Town.
The Bullets were just outside the play-off places going into the game but were leapfrogged by AFC Blackpool after the west-coast outfit’s 5-0 home win over struggling Eccleshall.
Alsager still have hopes of a play-off finish as they have games in hand over some of their challengers but they had no answers against table-topping Silsden.
Danny Forrest’s men took an early lead, with Aidan Kirby breaking the deadlock on the quarter- hour, and led 2-0 at the break after Kyle Hancock scored five minutes before the interval.
The Cobbydalers now have a nine-point cushion over second-placed Litherland REMYCA after they were held to a 4-4 draw at lowly Chadderton.
Litherland now have only one game in hand on Silsden so yesterday’s results were significant as the season enters the final furlong.
