SILSDEN made a surprisingly modest 133-8 at Chatburn in the first round of this years 20/20 Cowling Cup competition, and they were indebted to Hugh Sugden (52) and his nephew Ben Sugden (30) putting on 57 for the first wicket.

They did not need to worry though as Will Pullen's magnificent 4-15 ensured they won at a canter by 45 runs.

Gargrave II conceded a mammoth 184-1 as they travelled to Denholme II They could only reply with 127-5, despite Jonah Smith making 56 and George Beckwith 36no.

Cononley II were crushed at holders Haworth Road in a huge defeat. Mark Pickles took 2-20 for them but the hosts made 174-6. Herbie Starkey made 22 for Cononley but his side were dismissed for just 100.

U15 Lily Bell (38) was in the runs again to help Bradley II to 155-5 at home. Visitors Wilsden could only reply with 80-8 as Tom Eaglesfield took 3-14.

Cowling II gained revenged over Airedale II for their league defeat the previous day. Mark Adams (37) and Qamar Zaman (35) steered Cowling to 131-7 before Yasir Hameed took 3-23 to dismiss their opponents for just 90.

Finally, Embsay II's short trip to Skipton CI II proved to be fruitful as they won by 7 wickets. The hosts only made 78-7 despite Darren Pighills making 30. Andy Hodgson made 69 as the visitors cantered home.
