MEWIES Craven Cricket League Division Two leaders Cowling travelled to Sandy Lane and Josh Gill took extraordinary figures of 8-39 to help his side win easily by six wickets.

Mohammed Shah Usman (34 not out) and Mark Adams (20) completed the job with the bat as the visitors cruised to victory in only 17 overs.

Elsewhere, Cononley won a gripping contest against visitors Airedale by just five runs. The hosts went first and posted 208-7, with Cameron Knowles hitting 92.

Airedale were dismissed for 203 in reply. Mathew Cox (109) was in the runs again but Lewie Fitton (5-51) helped Cononley to a narrow win.

Gargrave entertained Eldwick & Gilstead and sent them packing with a 85-run defeat. Matt Beckwith (36) helped the hosts to 170 with Arnie Raistrick (3-38) being the pick of the bowlers.

Will Smith's 4-10 then ensured the visitors were back in the hut for just 85 all out. Finally, Foulridge remain in second place after their opponents Glusburn conceded.

Haworth Road faced Embsay in Division One and were struggling at 41-5 after Scott Robinson picked up 2-16. However, Omar Khatab (96no) eventually propelled them to 227-9. Elliot Stockton finished with figures of 3-83.

Embsay fell 30 runs short in reply. Several batsmen got a start but nobody was able to go on to reach a big score – the highest being Joe Holt with 36. Meanwhile, Ingrow conceded to Sutton.

In Division Three, Embsay II came back from the dead to win at Thornton. They found themselves on 46-9 when up stepped skipper Robin Youngman (36no) and Chris Stone (25no) to get them to 117-9.

Mark Laycock (3-17) and Steve Laycock (3-21) did most of the damage with the ball, but their batsmen let them down.

They only managed 79 in reply with Dan Oldfield (37) top scoring as Andy Hodgson (5-10) and Steve Speak (3-32) bowled well. Embsay II move into third spot.

Sutton II had seven juniors in their side and posted 104 at Skipton CI with Stuart Tillotson making 34 as Sam Smith took 3-8. Skipper Martin Chisnall (32) lead his side to the points by seven wickets.

Meanwhile, Bradley conceded their game with Hepworth & Idle II.

Former Division Four leaders Silsden forfeited their game and handed the three points to Chatburn, who now overtake them at the summit. Silsden now drop to third spot. Foulridge II go second after Glusburn II conceded.

Skipton CI II played half a game at Airedale II, had tea watching the football, before continuing and producing an exciting finish. The visitors totalled 206-6 with Jon Sharpe thrashing 86.

The hosts agonisingly fell six runs short of their target. Saqib Javaid made 69no as Chris Windle took 5-10.

Cowling II were in fine form, amassing 226-7 with Sajid Shafait (55no) leading the way despite Rob Storr taking 3-37. Gargrave tail-ender Paul Messenger made 30 of their 122 all out as Shafait took 4-17.

Finally, Bradley II conceded to Bingley Congs III and Cononley II conceded to Ingrow II.
