NEWLY-promoted Skipton Town had a creditable 1-1 draw in their first Premier Division home game against Embsay.

Hellifield Sports Club after losing their opening game to promoted side Clitheroe Lions, bounced back with a 4-3 home win against Waddington.

The visitors were soon in front before Steven Proctor levelled and last year's leading scorer Carl Stanford put Hellifield in front.

Goals by Paul Mounsey and Stanford - his second of the game - made it 4-1 at half-time.

Waddington replied with two second half goals but they weren't sufficient to enable them to stave off defeat.

Cononley Sports Club had a surprise 2-1 home victory against last year's champions Oxenhope while Skipton LMS were beat Grassington United 4-0.

Grassington picked up a point with a 4-4 draw at home to Gargrave for whom last year's prolific scorer Ben Brown grabbed two. Tom Varey and Kevin Newhouse were also on target.

Gargrave Reserves started life in Division One with a 5-2 defeat at Cowling.

Christian Moon had given his side a two goal lead but Cowling battled back to 2-2 at half time and scored three second half goals without reply.

Carleton - who have disbanded their reserve side - suffered an 8-2 home defeat at the hands of Grindleton while Rolls Royce lost the local derby with Pendle Athletic by a single goal.

Cowling Reserves - although losing 3-2 at home to Oakworth - gave a display that augers well for the future.

Skipton Town Youth Academy defeated Hellifield reserves with goals from Ibrar Ali, Ryan Jackson and Alec Brook.

Settle United Reserves were beaten 4-0 at home by Barnoldswick Barons.

Newly-promoted Earby Town started life in Division Two with a 6-4 defeat Chatburn. Last season's leading goal scorer Paul Oldroyd continued in the same vein with another two goals while the outstanding player in the match Wayne Hooper also scored a brace.

Town did not help themselves with a poor defensive play and the game was settled in the final minutes when Town conceded a sixth goal while searching for the equaliser.

Hellifield Reserves made it a good week for the Club with a 3-2 win against Grindleton Reserves, Nathan Dakin, Jonathan Dawson and Ryan Preston were their scorers.

Cononley were on the receiving end of a 3-0 scoreline at Skipton LMS who had a makeshift team, calling upon the services of 46-year-old Stuart Shuttle-worth and ex Manager Paul Ryder. Scott Edmondson and Kyle Telford were full of endeavour; the latter being rewarded with two second half goals to go with Leon Binney's first half goal. Cononley Reserves collapsed in the second half of their home match with Oakworth who had a comprehensive 7-2 win.

Colin Throup and Matthew Town were the home goalscorers, Cononley finished the game with ten men after Shaun Green was sent off for violent conduct.

Skipton LMS reserves gained a 1-1 draw at Grassington, Chris Thornber's early strike being cancelled out by a neat lob.

Gargrave Reserves were on the right side of a seven-goal game at Horton winning 4-3 with goals from Ben Brown, Dylan Wilson and Christopher Moon.

League and cup winners Oxenhope were beaten 2-1 by Northern Plant Hire Trophy winners Waddington at Cowling in Friday's John Hindle Memorial Trophy match.
